Last night in Brussels, EU leaders held an emergency summit, which was scheduled after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs over Greenland in a January 17 Truth Social post. Trump dropped the tariff threat with another social media post on January 21, but the crisis over Greenland has shown how Europe cannot trust a mercurial leader in the White House.

We talked about how the 27 members of the EU are divided over whether to genuflect to Trump or show firmness towards his bullying. He also said that the summit, which lost its raison d’être after Trump suddenly withdrew the threats, might have done more harm than good.
