To Save U.S. Democracy, Joe Biden Should Step Aside

The president is largely unable to counter Trump's authoritarian rhetoric when he looks and sounds feeble

The June 27 CNN presidential debate was an unqualified disaster for President Joe Biden. The 81-year old looked and sounded frail against Donald Trump. While Biden regained composure at times, the debate crystalized what 86 percent of Americans think: he is too old to serve another term.

Trump made numerous false claims, such as saying Biden was "paid by China" and "everybody" wanted Roe v. Wade overturned. Once again, Trump refused to accept the 2024 election results. However, Biden was largely unable to hit back against Trump's falsehoods.
